The Runaway Daughter Chapter 6: Trying To Take It All Away

Chapter 6 ~  Trying To Take It All Away…

When I got to that house, they were all waiting outside for me.  When they seen me driving my car their mouths dropped to the floor.  I got out and smiled at their reaction.  Even though Kylie had already seen the car, and no doubt told them about it,  she still looked at me like that.  Then Caleb pulled in with his car and they did a double take.  Our cars matched, the only difference was mine was purple and his was silver.  I motioned for Kylie to come over and help me and she did.  I handed her my book bag and two other shopping bags.  They had clothes in them.  She just stood there not knowing what to do.

“Kylie, could you take those to my room for me?  Do you mind?”  I asked.

            “Sure, I guess”  She replied.

The Runaway Daughter Chapter 5: The Place Where I Belong

Chapter 5 ~ The Place Where I Belong

I headed back towards Caleb’s room and stopped outside his door.  I wanted to say something to him but I wanted it to be private, you know how it is, with a houseful of vampires, they can hear everything you say.

So I thought to myself.  I love you so much Caleb.  I never want to leave your side.  There isn’t enough words in the English language to explain what you mean to me! I love you.  Within seconds he was out his bedroom door pulling me inside and to his couch.  We kissed, for a long time, it felt like what seemed like forever and then he pulled away.

“Arabella I love you more than you know.  I’ve never felt this way about anyone.  The other day you asked me a question that I never got a chance to answer so now I would like to tell you how I came to live with your father.  Is that okay?  I want you to know me.” He said this to me with passionate fire blazing in his eyes.

The Runaway Daughter Chapter 4 - Letting My Happiness Flow

Chapter 4 ~ Letting My Happiness Flow

The first bell rang, so Caleb walked me to my class. I went through all my classes in a daze again. But every time I entered a room all eyes were on me. When I entered lunch, Thomas steered me to a table were Steven and Matthew were already sitting. Caleb’s class hadn’t gotten out yet and he didn’t get to meet me so I waited for him, I got my food and sat there waiting. He walked in and smiled right at me…I couldn’t help but smile back. He walked over and sat down next to me.

“So when do I get a chance to ride in that car of yours?” he asked me

“Right after school, if you want!” I told him

“Alright, Steven you can drive my car home. We are going shopping after school. Tell Jonathan we’ll be there after we are done.”

“No Steven don’t tell him, I’ll be right back.”

I walked out to my car and grabbed my phone, I got in my car and called my dad, I told him I needed to talk to him. He told me to come there right away, he would be leaving for work in a hour. I walked back into where the boy’s were and told them I’d be back. Caleb smiled at me and said he’d tell my next teacher that there was a family emergency. I kissed him and jumped in my car and headed towards dad’s house.

When I got to the house, I walked right in. It felt like it was my house, I didn’t think anything of it! I called out “DAD” and he came down the stairs in his white doctor jacket. I smiled at him and he smiled back.

The Runaway Daughter Chapter 3 - Being The Only Girl Has Its Perks

Chapter 3 ~ Being The Only Girl Has Its Perks

The whole ride home, sitting there in the seat next to him totally quiet, you could have heard a pin drop if one had. He kept looking over at me, but I tried my hardest not to look over at him. He was kind of scaring me being all quiet. Go figure. I wasn’t scared in the least that he was a vampire, I knew he would never hurt me but I was scared of him being quiet.

All of a sudden he slammed on the brakes and turned the car off. Sitting there on the side of the road, he turned to me.

“You’re really not scared of me?”

“ No, I’m not. I was a little at first, but then I thought about all you’ve said to me, about how nice you are to me, and I thought there was no way he could hurt me. You’re too good for that. I love you Caleb, I really do. It’s weird I know, I’ve only known you for a couple of days and already love you, but it feels right to me. Tomorrow though, you’ve got some explaining to do. Like I want to know how you came to be with my father.”

“I’ll explain everything to you tomorrow, love. But right now you need to get some sleep.”

“You know what, if my dad had a girl with him, I mean a girl vampire, I’d probably be so jealous.” I smiled at him and he just laughed. “ He doesn’t does he? That room was a girls room.”

The Runaway Daughter Chapter 2 - Is it Better to Know?

Chapter 2 ~ Is it Better to Know?

Finally I got up and went home. When I got there I had an hour long lecture about being responsible. Like I didn’t know what being responsible meant. I had always been the responsible one, for my grades, for myself, my little brothers.

I was tired of being responsible. I got up after my mom and dad were done and went to my room, slamming the door when I entered my room. I was angry with them, how dare them talk to me about responsibility. Leaning against my door, tears sliding down my face, I looked around my tiny room, realizing how tiny it really was.

A bed against one wall, a small bed at that, it was a twin size barely there bed. A small desk on one side with a huge computer on it that took up most of the desk itself. That was mainly all I could fit in this room. I didn’t have any dressers for my clothes just a tiny closet. But it was mine. I pushed away from the door, slowly walking over to my bed sinking into the mattress and continued to cry.

Waking up, I looked around my room as my alarm blared in my ears. I could tell I had fallen asleep crying because my eyes were all sore and I hadn’t even changed out of my clothes from yesterday. Rubbing my eyes trying to get the sleep out of them, I slowly sat up stretching. My sore joints popped and cracked from sleeping in a ball the way I had. Swinging my legs around and slowly getting out of bed, I knew this day was going to be a very bad day, I could already tell I was going to be in a shitty mood all day long.

The Runaway Daughter Chapter 1 - A Helping Hand

Chapter One ~ A Helping Hand

Waking with a start, my alarm buzzing loudly in my ear, panic overtook every fiber of my being. I jumped out of bed rushing to get dressed for my first day of my Senior year. I didn’t do anything special with my appearance, threw on some jeans and a t-shirt, some tennis shoes and pulled up my hair in a pony tail, that’s it, and started to walk down the stairs- that was before I heard Kylie screaming at the top of her lungs at me, stopping me on the top step..

“Arabella, are you ready yet? Hurry up! We’re going to be late for the first day of school!”

“I’m coming, yesh, Kylie, give me a second! Damn, you’re not the only one that has to get ready you know, give me a break!” I yelled back. God I just wish for once she would treat me like a sister, let alone an actual person.

I hated having to ride to school with my sister. But, the family I lived with couldn’t afford another car. I had been saving for one for almost three years now and I still didn’t have enough.

I ran down the stairs and grabbed my backpack and headed out the door. She was already waiting for me in the car, making these huffing and puffing noises until I got in and buckled up. We drove to school in complete silence, well, except the radio cranked up so loud I could barely hear myself think. When we pulled into the parking lot I got out right away, barely even giving her a chance to put the car into park.

It’s crazy to think that I’d be out of here in ten months to start college. I got into Yale! I also got into Stanford, the University of California, and a couple of more colleges. My sister called me a braniac. I did have a 4.0 GPA, but I was no braniac. I just studied a lot, what else was there to do? I didn’t have many friends; I wasn’t athletic like Kylie, I was just me.

“Hey, Kelly!” Kylie yelled.

“See you later Kylie!” I yelled after her. She totally ignored me as always, she just walked off to meet her friends and her boyfriend. She was the head cheerleader and dating the football star here at our school in Forks, Washington.

I hated it here, but it was home. It rained so much that it felt like I was damp all the time. I wanted to get away, you know, see the world, actually I just wanted to get away from my family. I needed away from all of them. I was their adopted daughter, the one that could do all the work and they could do nothing, the one that they didn’t have to give anything too. I hated living with them and couldn’t wait to go to college to get away.

The Runaway Daughter..Prologue

Prologue

A couple of months ago, while trying to figure out who I was, I found out what my father was!

He was a vampire!

I’m not one, see my mom and dad were teenage sweethearts. It was a typical love story. You know, the high school head cheerleader with the quarterback of the football team, like I said, typical. My mom was gorgeous at least, from what I’ve seen in pictures of her.

My mom’s dead, another vampire killed her…

Right after I was born my mom and dad went out on their first date night, that’s what my dad called it. Well, they were walking to their car and someone attacked my mom from behind. The vampire killed my mom with just a flick of his finger, he snapped her neck and consumed all the blood from her body.

My dad, you may ask…well, he just stood there shocked into silence, at first, then he snapped out of it and started to run away. To run for his life. The vampire caught him and bit him, I don’t know how my dad actually got away…he will never tell me that part, but he did.

He once told me that he knew he had someone to take care of, but he couldn’t remember who that person was, the pain was too much. When my mom and dad didn‘t come back, the babysitter took me to the police station. I don’t remember any of the story, I was only two weeks old at the time.

I’ve lived with the family I have now, the only one I’ve ever known until about a year ago…
